Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is a deposit required for a booking?

Yes, for group bookings, a 20% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your appointments. This deposit ensures that your time is reserved and helps with planning for your group’s needs.

    Where are you located?

My home studio is based in Willunga 5172. I also offer travel services upon request for groups of four or more people. If you have a larger group or specific location in mind, please get in touch to discuss the details and arrangements!

    Which regions do you service?

I service areas ranging from the Adelaide CBD and surrounding suburbs to as far south as Cape Jervis. Travel fees will apply based on the distance and time required to travel to and from your location.

To confirm availability and get an accurate travel fee, please email me at brianna.arthur@outlook.com.au. I'm happy to provide more details and assist with any questions you may have!

How is the travel fee calculated?

The travel fee is based on two main factors: petrol and time.

For example, if it takes 30 minutes to pack the makeup kit, 1 hour to travel to the job (each way), and 30 minutes to unpack the kit, that totals 3 hours of time. In that 3 hours, I could have serviced three clients, which amounts to $250+ in potential earnings.

Generally, the travel rate will be less than this, but please be mindful of these factors when considering the travel fee. The exact amount will depend on the distance and time required for your specific location.

How long does a full face makeup application take?

A full face makeup application typically takes between 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the look you're going for. A more natural look usually takes around 45 minutes, while a glam look with more detail and intensity will take an hour.

I always allow enough time to ensure everything is perfect for your desired style!

What products do you use in your kit?

My professional makeup kit is inclusive and designed to cater to all skin types and tones!

I use a curated selection of high-end and luxury brands to ensure the best results for my clients. My kit includes premium products from Dior, NARS, MAC, and Inglot, all of which I’ve carefully selected based on their performance, longevity, and finish. Having worked with these brands for many years, I know how each product interacts with different skin types, ensuring a flawless application every time.

I also offer both strip lashes and individual lashes, depending on your personal preference, to complete your look perfectly.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for my makeup appointment?

Great makeup starts with cared-for skin, so I recommend implementing a simple skincare routine in the lead-up to your appointment. This can include regular cleansing, moisturizing, and exfoliating to maintain smooth, healthy skin.

If you want to go the extra mile for a special event, you may also consider dermaplaning a few days before your appointment. This treatment gently removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz, creating an ultra-smooth canvas for your makeup.

For brows, threading is fine before your appointment, but if you prefer waxing, please schedule it at least five days beforehand, as makeup may not adhere well to freshly waxed skin.

For the best lipstick application, keep your lips well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water and applying lip balm regularly to prevent dryness or cracking.

On the day of your appointment, please arrive with clean, moisturized skin. If you're booking for a special event, consider exfoliating your skin about a week prior to ensure an even texture for flawless makeup application.

By caring for your skin in advance, and considering extra treatments like dermaplaning, you'll ensure your makeup looks absolutely flawless!

    Do you offer makeup trials?

Yes, I offer makeup trials for brides to ensure we create the perfect look for your special day. Trials are held at my home studio and are charged at the standard special occasion makeup rate. This is a great opportunity to discuss your vision, try out different styles, and make sure you feel completely confident in your bridal look.

If you’re considering a spray tan or tanning for your wedding, I recommend wearing one for the trial as well, as your skin tone will affect how the makeup looks and which shades we choose.

I recommend scheduling your trial well in advance of your wedding to allow time for any adjustments if needed!

Should I be concerned about the pain associated with cosmetic tattoo?

Most clients find the procedure quite manageable. While some discomfort may be felt towards the end of the session, it is generally bearable. A numbing cream is applied before the procedure and is left on for 30 minutes to minimize discomfort. Additionally, further numbing can be applied during the procedure if needed to ensure your comfort.

How long does cosmetic brow tattoo last?

Cosmetic brow tattoos typically last between 12 to 18 months. Generally, clients should plan for an annual touch-up to refresh the color and maintain the desired look. However, in some cases, especially with factors such as sun exposure, active ingredients in skincare, or oily skin (particularly relevant to microblading), a 6-month touch-up may be necessary to address faster fading.

How do I know which style of eyebrow tattoo is right for me?

Choosing the right style of eyebrow tattoo depends on several factors, including:

    • Your desired look: Whether you prefer a natural appearance or a more filled-in look.

    • The amount of existing brow hair: This can influence the style and technique used.

    • Your skin type: Different skin types may affect the outcome and longevity of the tattoo.

    • Any existing tattoos: If you have previous eyebrow tattoos, this may impact the choice of style and technique.

The best option for you can be discussed during your consultation. Alternatively, feel free to email me, and we can chat about your preferences and needs!

Do you provide cover-up tattoos from previous artists?

Yes, I do offer cover-up tattoos for previous work. To assess the best approach, please provide an image of your existing brows. This will help us discuss your expectations for the final result. In some cases, laser tattoo removal may be recommended before proceeding with a cover-up to ensure the best outcome.

How do I prepare for my cosmetic tattoo appointment?

The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and not irritated.

    • Don’t tweeze, wax, thread or perform electrolysis one week before the procedure.

    • Don’t tint your eyebrows 3 days before the procedure

    • Don’t sun tan your face two weeks prior or have a sunburned face

    • Don’t have any type of facial 2 weeks before the procedure

    • Don’t work out the day of the procedure

    • Don’t have Botox 3-4 weeks before the procedure

    • Don’t take fish oil or vitamin E one week prior to the procedure

To avoid excessive bleeding and poor colour deposit:

    • Don’t drink alcohol 24-48 hours before your tattoo

    • Don’t consume coffee before your procedure

    • Don’t take an aspirin or Ibuprofen for pain relief (as these thin blood) at least 48-72 hours prior to the procedure

Shower and wash your hair as you need to take extra care not to get your brows wet for several days.

Do I need to wax, thread, or pluck my brows before my appointment?

No, you don’t need to do any brow grooming before your appointment. I will take care of removing any excess hair around the outline using a razor, ensuring a crisp and clean finish. This way, your brows will be perfectly camera-ready by the end of your session!

How do I care for my brows after my procedure?

To avoid infection and ensure proper healing, it’s important to keep your brows clean and dry for 7 days. You will receive a tattoo aftercare cream at your appointment, which should be applied nightly for the first seven days. Use a clean cotton tip to apply the cream to avoid introducing any bacteria. Following these steps will help your brows heal beautifully and maintain their new look!

How do I maintain my brows after my procedure?

Depending on your hair growth rate, you may need to have your brows waxed or threaded as usual, or you can pluck any stray hairs outside the outline yourself at home. If you naturally have lighter hairs compared to your brow tattoo, having them tinted from time to time can be beneficial. Tinting will make the tattoo appear darker and refreshed, maintaining a cohesive and polished look.

How long does the procedure take?

Please allow up to 2.5 hours for your appointment. This includes approximately 30 minutes for numbing, up to 30 minutes to perfect your brow shape, and about 1-1.5 hours for the actual procedure. This time frame ensures we can achieve the best results and address any details to your satisfaction.

When should I book a touch up appointment?

Touch-ups are typically required 4 to 6 weeks after the initial procedure, once the skin has fully healed. This follow-up is essential to perfect the tattoo, as some areas may have faded or the overall color may need to be built up to achieve the desired final shade.

If more than 12 weeks have passed since your initial procedure, the appointment will no longer be considered a touch-up, and you will need to book a new initial set.

Can I wear makeup to my appointment?

It is preferred that you avoid wearing makeup to your appointment. This is because the entire area will be sanitized with an alcohol skin wipe to ensure the skin is free from bacteria. Arriving with a clean face helps us start with the best conditions for your procedure.
